One By Design was originally contracted to redesign large removable graphic panels. We made the recommendation to create a more permanent installation. The project evolved into something that will endure and be impactful for years to come. One By Design’s vision and the generosity of the Mellon Foundation, have made this a more memorable experience for all who enter this sacred building.

The new exhibits memorialize the important contributions made to society by Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz. It candidly chronicles their lives through portrayals of their family life, race, religion, and the rise to public consciousness. The stories of these two pivotal icons of the civil rights movement are told within the spacious two floor building, through media projections and exhibit graphics that clad the walls.
